OTHER SMART USES OF SUGAR

   The history of sugar is not a simple one, but how much do you know about this substance once called 'white gold' by British colonists, which is also one of the oldest ingredients available on this planet.
   Cakes, coffee, pies, yes, we put sugar in all this and yes, the main reason for the use of sugar in Nigeria is it's taste and there are also many myths about it as some people consider it bad for health,  But there are many other surprising uses for sugar that don't involves food and drink that i bet you never knew about.
   Here is a list of some non food uses of sugar that will surprise you.
1. TREAT WOUNDS
Yes you can treat wounds with a sprinkle of sugar. Studies has showed that pouring granulated sugar on bedsores, or amputations before dressing the wound kills the bacteria that prevents healing and which causes chronic pain.
2. CLEAN YOUR HANDS
If your hands becomes sticky after working with grease and your regular soap cannot remove the stickiness, then you can use sugar to cut the grease and scrub it away. You just put a teaspoon of sugar on your palm and wash with regular soap as usual. You will be surprised with the results.
3. STAIN REMOVAL
If your  dress has a coffee stain. You can use sugar to remove the stain, and it is very effective.  You just need to make a paste of sugar, water and vinegar, then apply on the stain and let it sit for 10-20 minutes. After that, you can wash normally with cold water.  Sugar also removes grass stains, Just make a paste of warm water and sugar and apply to grass-stained clothing, let it sit for an hour or longer for tougher stains and then wash as usual. After you will be amazed to see that the stain has been removed completely.
4. EXTERMINATES ROACHES
Is your house being infested by roaches? Well, sugar can eradicate them easily. Just mix equal parts sugar and baking powder and sprinkle over areas of infestation. Sugar attracts the roaches, while,  the baking powder
exterminates them. Always replace frequently.
5. AS A PRESERVATIVE FOR CAKE AND COOKIES
If you store cake and cookies in an airtight container with a few sugar cubes, it will stay fresh longer.
6. HOMEMADE BODY SCRUB
Sugar is really helpful to remove dead skin and therefore widely used in various body care products. It makes a splendid exfoliating agent for body scrubs.You can make a simple body scrub  by mixing sugar with oil (almond, jojoba or olive all work well) to create a loose paste. Add some vanilla extract for fragrance, Gently rub on your skin and then rinse off in the shower. Or, just take brown sugar with almond or with any of your favorite essential oils and mix it well.Your homemade scrub is ready to use, which helps to provide a blemish-free skin.
7. LESSEN SPICY BURN
A dash of sugar can lessen too much spiceness in the mouth. So next time you are feeling spicy burns in your mouth just take a spoonful of sugar. It also help soothe a singed tongue from coffee, tea or hot meals burn.
8. FOR ART
For art lovers you can show your creativity and also make new decor items with sugar. Sugar cubes can be dyed, stacked, and shaped for all kinds of creative fun.
9. KEEP LIPSTICK FRESH
Sprinkle a bit of sugar atop freshly applied lipstick, let it sit, then lick it off. This works to set the lipstick and will extend the application, and your lipstick tends to last longer.
